Hey there! 🤗 It's Hive Vibes Web 3 Music Competition Week 6. I still remain @yhubee.
It's been good participating in this community. I am sharing with you, the cover of Sasha Sloan's "Older"
Sasha Sloan, the artist of the song is not just singing a song but she's telling a story. The song is a ballad about divorce. There are lots of toxic marriages which results in traumatizing a child or children raised in such homes. Kids see and feel it all and they tend to learn and portray it. The cycle ends up going on and on.
I loved singing this song when I heard it newly. Not that I could relate personally but I had a friend who used to talk about how his parents are always fighting or could stay for days without talking to each other. I know the effects it had on him.
What hurts more most times are families that are broken but not separated. The child gets to see the things that transpires.
Sometimes , a happy childhood could cure all the pains in one's life but some people spend the whole of their life trying to cure the pains in their childhood.
Even though everything isn't all rosy, I'm happy I have a good childhood memory that I could look back at and smile. What's more, my parents are happily together till now.
For those of you out there that had a traumatizing childhood, I pray you find happiness.
I really hope my future children would never find this song relatable.

Song Lyrics
"Older"
I used to shut my door
While my mother screamed in the kitchen
I'd turn the music up, get high and try not to listen to every little fight
'Cause neither one was right
I swore I'd never be like them
But I was just a kid back then
The older I get the more that I see
My parents aren't heroes, they're just like me
'Cause loving is hard, it don't always work
You just try your best not to get hurt
I used to be mad but now I know
Sometimes it's better to let someone go
It just hadn't hit me yet
The older I get
I used to wonder why, why they could never be happy
I used to close my eyes and pray for a whole 'nother family
Where everything was fine, one that felt like mine
I swore I'd never be like them
But I was just a kid back then
The older I get the more that I see
My parents aren't heroes, they're just like me
And loving is hard, it don't always work
You just try your best not to get hurt
I used to be mad but now I know
Sometimes it's better to let someone go
It just hadn't hit me yet
The older I get
