Morning Glory: When 7 AM Sets the Tone for a Day of Pure Bliss

I survived today! If you read a post of mine earlier in the week, you might have known I was off to the hospital this morning.

I must admit when I got the letter through on Monday informing me that I had two MRI scans booked for today Sunday at 8am at our local hospital, Victoria Hospital, yes 8 fluffing o'clock on a Sunday morning, I thought I had received an April Fool's letter...

But I booked the taxi and Mrs T was up early.

I made us bagels and peanut butter for a 7am breakfast.

There is something wonderfully delicious the way the peanut butter melts on a bagel straight out of the toaster!

Mrs T gets a taxi every morning to work at 6.40am, so when I booked the taxi to go to the hospital for 7.15am I knew they would be early.

There is nothing worse wondering if your taxi will be on time if you are going somewhere with an appointment involved I think.

The taxi company we use, send a text telling you who the driver is and car registration number with a live map of where it is.

Lo and behold but at 7.05am we got the text informing us it would be Gordon our driver.

Well more often than not it is Gordon who drives Mrs T to work and we joke he is her personal chauffeur, we have even given him his Christmas card with a decent sized monetary gift inside. Taxi drivers and milkmen I always tip them at Christmas, how about you?

Turns out they had a driver short and he was working his first Sunday overtime this year!

I just knew it was going to be a Day of Pure Bliss!

This then is the main entrance and it is deserted pretty much.

Although they did have a bonnie Christmas tree and gorgeous blue and white stars.

7.30am and pitch black still!

Although yesterday was the shortest night, in theory we get lighter and less depressed now!

To be honest, inside was not much better.

We found the radiology department but it was locked!

I was still a bit dubious as to whether there had been a clerical error with the day and date.

Nobody asked us what we were doing as we walked over the hospital.

So at 7.54am they were now open and I used the self service to check in!

Yes I was the only appointment and I got taken straight away.

They had a pretty tapestry type artwork hanging on the wall, and so Mrs T sat there and got her crochet out while I got carted off to the gulag!

The radiologist was pure top drawer and when I explained about my Ankylosing Spondylitis and my neck and back and the experience I had 8 years ago which took my back days to recover, he diligently built a wee platform for my neck.

The scans took about 40 minutes, which was much bearable lying down in the white coffin as I call it. Only my lower back was killing me, but when you can't move for 40 mins that was understandable.

I was well chuffed!

The toilets I nipped into afterwards and changed trousers... No not coz I messed ma breeks but because there is no metal allowed so I wore joggers.

Now we left and went to get a bus home...

image.png

We passed the main reception ... This was 9am and it was still closed!

image.png
Now it was 9am and the sky was gorgeous.

Fluffing freeezing, it was three degrees and of course being a Sunday there were very few buses.

Fluff it said I andphoned the taxi company. A white car pulled up as I was on the phone, and yes after the passenger got out it was our taxi!

Talk about smooth!

Did you see the sky, could you see something in it?

image.png

Yes the moon!

Damn, I love my new Google Pixel 9 Pro XL phone camera!

Then it was home and I whipped a healthy brunch!

I'm so glad your hospital visit went smoothly! It sounds like you had a bit of a stressful start with the early appointment, but everything fell into place. The text updates from the taxi company and having Gordon as your driver again were definitely signs it was going to be a good day. The brunch at the end sounds like the perfect way to cap it off.

Since you still make lunch after the MRI, I assumed it didn't hurt you😬😁.

Oh dear, so you also went into the tunnel twice! I had a loo break in between, didn't want to mess up the second session and have to start all over. It wasn't a fun ride for sure!
I hope all is OK?

Nobody asked us what we were doing as we walked over the hospital.
