RE: Been Ages Since I've been to Tokyo

The gorillas were a bit boring weren't they? Must have been having an off-day 😂 I think Haoko is the biggest silverback I know. He has a handsome brother, Shabani, at Higashiyama zoo. Apparently women would go mad for him, calling his name and trying to get his attention. Here's some action from Haoko and his son, Riki (about five or six now, I think):

I don't know how those animals cope with the noise, all those excited children!

Yup and that the animal the boys and I wanted to see the most. The silver back was hard to see that day. Mostly stayed in his cave. Don't blame him as you said all those noisy excited kids.

Ah yes I heard about Shabani, he used to be on the news a lot. Along with Shan Shan the panda.

I must say through, Ueno zoo is massive. Could spend the entire day there , which we kinda did and not see all the animals. Many were on their day off though 😝

I heard about Shabani

Yeah, he's a bit of a rock star!

I watch a lot of videos about the gorillas in Japanese zoos (mostly Momotaro family at Kyoto zoo, but sometimes Haoko and Shabani families). My favourites though are the D'Jeeco family in Taiwan. They are hilarious!

You just reminded me I have gorillas about twenty minutes drive from me. I must go and see them!

With all these gorillas in the zoo I wonder how many are left in the wild....

D'Jeeco family in Taiwan, I will check them out. Sounds like something to do when I go there someday.

Okay, last one - a cute one for Aijah with the baby D'Jeeco brothers:
