RE: Fish & Banana Chips #DashOutSunday

Yes! I'm all for all kinds of spicy chips! I'd be the number customer. You can ask @tanjakolader, we have a whole box here where I buy my spicy snacks in bulk, before they run out on the shelves in the neighborhood. xD

You have a lot of posts where people share fruits and other foods with you over there. I really like that.

They are pretty good. How is the banana industry there? Any banana chips on the market? My by a business to invest in 😁

Yeah, there is a lot of sharing culture here even though the place is so advanced. Even someone visiting your home, they bring something.

Like @rarej said, the chips, especially the spicy ones are sold out faster than the regular ones here in stores. Sometimes we buy the last two or three and I feel a little guilty for not leaving one pack for someone else 😅.

We actually had a thriving banana/plantain culture in Suriname, exporting to various countries, but because of mismanagement and low interest from the government in agriculture it trickled down.

Some have tried to bring it back to its former glory though, but there is still a market. There are a lot of local chip entrepreneurs, but most of them aren't ready or aren't looking to export. Focus is mostly on the local market.

There are a few locals that are doing a good job with this and commercializing it perfectly so they can be in stores.

And then there's also the really local locals that just make it on request. Person to person. Think of the old Javanese grandmas that try to earn a little bit extra. I tend to support those the most, sometimes even buying a 5-10 liter container of plantain/cassava/breadfruit chips.

Same as the sharing culture in the Caribbean then, but in the Caribbean they bring leftover containers alongside the something they bring over. !LOL

The person who invented the umbrella actually wanted to call it the 'brella.'
But he hesitated.
