Week 53: The Love of God
For this week, I will be singing a cover of the song "Excess Love" by Mercy Chinwo. Mercy Chinwo is a Nigerian gospel artist known for her beautiful voice and powerful ministrations, which have blessed many people worldwide.
Our topic, “The Love of God,” reminds us of the immeasurable and unconditional nature of God’s love. God is love, and love is God. But what qualifies someone to be loved by God?
I’ve noticed that, in this world, God shows love to everyone, regardless of who they are. Despite our sins, he blesses us all with rain, fresh air, and countless other gifts. This is His general love, a love He shows to all His creation.
However, there is another dimension to His love, reserved for those who love Him and walk by His will. These individuals experience God’s love more deeply. He fights for them, provides for them, heals them, and gives them wisdom that the world cannot comprehend.
The greatest demonstration of God’s love is seen in the sacrifice of His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ. God saw the world drowning in sin, and, in His desire to reconcile us back to Himself, He sent Jesus to become sin for us and die in our place so that we might have life and have it abundantly.
The reason I chose the song "Excess Love" is because it beautifully expresses how much God loves us. His love is so overwhelming that no human can match it.
