Good day, beloved Hivians and Hive Open Mic community members!
Welcome to my blog, and I sincerely appreciate you for always visiting. I remain @oluthomas.
We are now in Week 252 of the Hive Open Mic weekly performance, and a theme has been given for us to explore and sing in relation to it. The theme for this week is "My Truth." I would love to share a little insight based on my understanding of this topic.
Truth is the act of presenting facts exactly as they are, without distortion or concealment. It is about honesty, clarity, and standing firm in what is real. Interestingly, I noticed that an image of Jesus was used in the community for this theme, which aligns perfectly with the message I want to share.
For my performance, I will be playing a piano cover of the hymn "Trust and Obey." This song has been a great blessing to me countless times, and I believe it fits this week's theme beautifully. The reason I chose this song is that I want to share the truth I have drawn from it and my personal relationship with Jesus.
The song speaks about our walk with the Lord and how it should be. As believers, the key to following God is simple: we must trust and obey. This is the foundation of the gospel of Christ. Jesus Himself told His disciples, "If you love me, keep my commandments" (John 14:15). Furthermore, John 3:16 reminds us:
"For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life."
This is the ultimate truth of the gospel: if anyone desires eternal life, they must believe in Jesus Christ.
Consider the two thieves who were crucified alongside Jesus. One of them, in humility, asked for God's mercy and for Jesus to remember him. Jesus, in His grace, did just that and promised him paradise. However, the other thief refused to believe and, as a result, missed the opportunity for salvation.
The truth is this, to enter the Kingdom of God, we must believe in His Son, Jesus Christ, and accept Him as our Lord and Savior. When we do this, He cleanses us and makes us His forever.
However, I must emphasize that following Jesus does not mean everything in life will be smooth and easy. Challenges will come, but our responsibility is to trust and obey.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read my post! I would love to hear your thoughts, so please drop a comment below.
Your support through upvotes and reblogs is also greatly appreciated.
Blessings to you all.
Lyrics
1
When we walk with the Lord
In the light of His Word,
What a glory He sheds on our way;
While we do His good will,
He abides with us still,
And with all who will trust and obey.
Trust and obey,
For there’s no other way
To be happy in Jesus,
But to trust and obey.
2
Not a shadow can rise,
Not a cloud in the skies,
But His smile quickly drives it away;
Not a doubt or a fear,
Not a sigh or a tear,
Can abide while we trust and obey.
3
Not a burden we bear,
Not a sorrow we share,
But our toil He doth richly repay;
Not a grief or a loss,
Not a frown or a cross,
But is blest if we trust and obey.
4
But we never can prove
The delights of His love,
Until all on the altar we lay;
For the favor He shows,
And the joy He bestows,
Are for them who will trust and obey.
5
Then in fellowship sweet
We will sit at His feet,
Or we’ll walk by His side in the way;
What He says we will do;
Where He sends, we will go,
Never fear, only trust and obey.
