I keep in my mind many memories of my childhood and although many years have passed I do not forget them. That is why I have chosen this topic from all those proposed by Galenkp for this weekend.
Share a photograph of yourself as a young kid and explain what you loved about your childhood and also what you didn't like. Your own photos are essential.
What I liked most about my childhood and what I keep in my thoughts and my heart today as something indelible was the love and affection with which my family raised me. I was spoilt by everyone, especially my great aunt, who went out of her way to give me all the treats I wanted. I have mentioned Tita in other publications because she and my parents were essential in my life. I was born in 1952, a challenging year in Cuba, a year of great poverty, and although my father worked as a tobacco worker in a factory, what he earned was not enough to support the family, nevertheless, they gave me a very happy life and provided me with many pleasures.
My grandmother used to bake for the street and was in charge of making for me those pretty dresses full of ornaments and bows, she always said that for her I was her doll. I remember that along with the gowns she made with satin fabrics, loose nylon, cotton and lace, she would look for the right shoes for me and take me to a shop where she would make the shop assistant take down many boxes until she found the most beautiful ones for me so that I would feel comfortable.
She used to buy me fruits that were not harvested in Cuba, such as apples, pears and grapes, the latter I liked very much and I would peel them because she said they would not cause me any harm.
What didn't I like in my childhood? Only when they made curls in my hair and they had to apply a chemical that had a pungent smell and they put some bone-shaped rolls to shape my hair and it hurt me a lot, their whims because my hair was straight.
I believe that my happy childhood was the basis for who I am today and the way I raised my two daughters, the way my daughters also grew up in their grandparents' home where they were raised in a loving environment.
Thank you @galenkp for this topic that gave us the opportunity to remember our childhood. My gratitude to you for reading this far and Happy Holidays to all.
