The human nature is diverse and complicated. On the origin of the human person, there are varying opinions and these depend on one's ideology about life or commonly put, one's religion.
The earth remains the habitation of the human person but of course not confining all men to a particular territory and thus, the diverse cultures and ways of life dispersed all over the earth. Also, this diversity touches the physical appearances of the human person which has created a lot of problems in the human society.
The earth is inhabited by persons of several colours, white, yellow, black and so on. The danger created by this diversity lies in the fact of a sect, claiming superiority over another and thinking of others as less humans to them. Thus, the strong and big racial discrimination which stand to ravage the beauty of the human existence.
We are one but different Colours
But is this actually supposed to creat a problem, not at all I think. But it's unfortunate that it gradually crept into the minds of people and has remained and refused to be eradicated.
But the question remains, why does one ever imagine another person to be less human to him? Just because one is black or yellow makes such a person inferior to who is white? Sometimes, because of this problem, I have been tempted to blame the creator of life for this being that He made people such different and has caused problems. Perhaps, He should have made all to be the same, like all being black or white or yellow and no one would have to belittle another.
But then I will be wrong to ever think in such manner because this diversity was created to make for perfection and to beautify the human existence but man in his manness has refused to make good use of his reason and appreciate this diversity and see everyone as one even though of different colours.
I am glad that the rate of racial discrimination has reduced in comparison to how it was many years ago. This has led us to see confirmations and proofs why everyone should be regarded with same dignity as human. The white man has proven himself to be authentic like wise the yellow or black man and thus, now people see that the colour is not what makes the person but the quality of Him as a human being.
From the foregoing, it would be irrational to think of another as less human because of colour and thus, it is he who thinks of another as less rational that is less rational because he does not adequately understand what rationalism is all about.
I have never really understood what racism is all about not untill I experienced it. It is a disease that is eating up the existence of man. People need to be well educated on what human dignity means.
Recently I found myself in an environment that is foreign and among some white persons. I was to work as a health care personnel. I was to attend to one old lady but when I approached her, she wouldn't let me do my work because she felt I was incompetent because I am black and as such lack good educational standard.
Well, I was kind of furious because amongst the persons working there as attendants, I was even much more educated. I was only doing this job because it was vacation time and I needed to just earn some coin with which to sustain my living when the university resumes.
Sharing life together makes life happier
Well, I was calm enough to explain of my educational qualification and by my attitude, she melted and broke in tears. Afterwards, she apologised to me and we became friends.
Many persons need adequate orientation about this thing called human dignity. Persons should never be judged by colour or race. Cultures should never be looked down on. One person eats with hand and another eats with cutleries does not in any way define who is more rational or who is more a person. These are cultural differences and which should be respected.
What is actually my take on life? We are one people of different colours. I love that song by Lucky Dube titled One People Different Colours. In that song Lucky tries to preach against this disease and instill in the hearts of all, the spirit of oneness. Life is much more beautiful when we live as one in our diversity. Look at many strong football teams around the world today, the mixture of persons of diverse cultures bringing about perfection and great beauty. Are you that person whose eye has been blinded by this racial discrimination, shake it off and be positive about life. The quality of the person is not determined by colour or race but by the quality of being a human being made in the image of God. Let us live as one.
