This week's Hive Open Mic event presents us with the theme Your Lights On Me. One song that kept ringing in my head was Arise Shine by Oasis worship.
Before I recorded my cover, I listened to the song to remember the arrangement and other technical part of it.
Initially, I had planned to sing an acapella version, but changed my mind after recording and added the song's instrumental track.
The only thing I did was to sing according to the arrangement of the song. I didn't add anything different from the original song, I also did not harmonize the song. I felt happy singing this song.
The worship song “Arise Shine” by Oasis Worship has become a favorite of mine. The lyrics, music, and message are really powerful and moving. Written by Pat Barrett, Tony Brown, and Aaron Robertson, it’s got a triumphant yet emotional feel.
It’s centered around the idea of light beating out darkness. The song starts softly talking about how your light has come and the Lord’s glory has risen like the sunrise after a long night. Then it builds with more instruments coming in, growing more hopeful, like the dawn. The chorus goes bigger, belting “Nations will come to your light” over these flowing piano parts. It feels like breaking day finally arriving in full force to wipe out the night.
What gets me most about this song is how perfectly it mixes Bible references with this universal call to embrace your inner brightness. Beyond nods to Isaiah, it’s got a timeless message about rediscovering your purpose. When I shout the lyrics “Arise, shine,” I feel empowered, like no darkness can overshadow the unique light I carry inside. It reminds me I have a lot to give the world, even when sometimes I lose that belief.
This anthem from Oasis gives me strength whenever I connect back to love within. It reassures that by tending that inner flame, I can illuminate whatever space I'm meant to. Their meaningful song moved me to shine my special gifts too. And that’s what the greatest songs do - they spark creative fires, make you want to drive out shadows. I appreciate this one lighting me up on days I needed that boost.
