Hi fellow hivers and foodies. How are you? My birthday was just last week. It fell on a weekday and so I did little things in celebration before, on and after the day. I know the title sounds random but, I celebrated with fruits, eggs and a virgin.
Fruits
Anyone who knows me well, knows how much I love fruits. I get excited just by seeing them. Eating them is another form of excitement all by itself. So for my birthday, I wanted to do and have something fruity. A bit before the day, @bearmol and I went to a greenhouse for a strawberry picnic. We picked just a few but were given some as presents. We were served some pastry and mochi and were able to make a lovely strawberry snack on a skewer. The strawberries were fresh, delicious and paired well with the sweets.
Fruit Gift
I got a cute little box of fruits as a gift. It was my first time to receive one of such kind. I was very grateful and decided to use some tips I learned here @FoodiesBeeHive re photography and food presentation. I used the fruits, an orange plate and a black “dish-like plate”, some flowers and some pieces of cloth to achieve the finished products you’ll see in the next few photos.
Black, yellow and red polka dot pieces of cloth used as bases/backgrounds.
Flowers used to enhance the effects of the photos (a kind of rose and red carnations).

Fruits adorned with red carnations.(grapes, cherries, strawberries, a citrus and loquats).
I wanted to use the yellow cloth more but the lines or seams were more evident and required more ironing. I decided to use the polka dot and black pieces in the other photos.
The fruits were in small servings and were set on small pieces of colored paper. These photos of the empty box were taken with the flowers in different positions.

Which of the fruit arrangements do you prefer? Do you prefer the one on the orange plate or black plate?

Oops! Sorry, I might have gotten carried away with the fruits. My family eagerly waited to grab some after the photography. We enjoyed them together. 🍇 🍒 🍓 🍊
Eggs for Lunch
Years ago, I’d just have eggs as breakfast items. Since I moved to Asia , I’ve had them more often and who knew that I’d be “celebrating my birthday with eggs”.🥚🍳 I went to Eggs‘n Things. The ambience was just lovely.
If having eggs, I’d usually ask that they’re well done. I’d forgotten to mention that and so this was my lunch:
Hawaiian-inspired, fried rice with pineapple and spam, topped with eggs.
At first my palate tried avoiding the eggs and then I ate it all. It was really delicious.
Topped off with a Virgin
🌺 To top things off, I decided to go with a Hawaiian drink. I browsed the virgin drink menu and saw several options. There were, Mai Tai, Lava Flow, Blue Hawaii and Pina Colada. I chose a virgin pina colada. It was refreshing.
I really enjoyed my birthday celebration. How do you or how did you celebrate your birthday?
Thank you for reading. Have a wonderful week. 😃
