Hi great people,
This is my entry for afritunes week 112.
I decided to sing a popular African (Nigerian) song. I think the song should be older than me. I grew up and met the song. I remembered when I was in a church in one village, the women fellowship used to render it as their special number.
As I grew up, I noticed that the song has lots of depth and makes a huge sense to me. It's a song that depicts the commitment of a believer or follower of Jesus to any length. No matter how rough the road might be, no matter the hurdles, no matter the challenges nothing will make me shrink back because I have decided to follow Jesus.
A fellow colleague of mine in the mission sometimes last year had a test of this song of which his testimony really stirred me up to be addicted to Jesus. He was abducted after the Christmas and was taken to the thick bush. They persuaded him to denounce Jesus as his lord and saviour but he refused. They tried shooting him with their guns but everything proved abortive. They were shocked and after three days, they released him with others that were captured. In all this, he never compromised his faith. That was the song that he rendered to God.
Today, I bring forth this song even though I don't know the original composer and where it was gotten from. I did a mixture of English and Hausa. I hope you will enjoy it.
English lyrics
I must go with Jesus anywhere
No matter the roughness of the road,
I must go, I must go.
Hausa
Ni Zan sheda
Yesu Ko Ina
Ba Na damu da
Gargada hanya ba,
Ni Zan Ji, ni Zan Ji.
Thanks
