Squash- Sweepstake Life
Every now and then I find a song that grabs my ears, at the current moment, that song is "Sweepstake life" by Squash. What is interesting to me is that he is doing something that many people are saying isn't really being done, dancing to a trap/Dancehall riddim. It has been the hot topic of debate in the Reggae/Dancehall space that the Trap-Dancehall, when it plays at a party, people just stand and bob their heads, no dancing, no wining, no vibes, just a few singing a long like karaoke to the mainly gunman songs.
But this song by the Six Boss, Squash, shows a trap dancehall song with a music video full of vibes. Seriously, the energy in this video is contagious and it doesn't have more than a few seconds of ass shaking. The video mainly takes place in a convenient store with Squash and crew loading up on boos, vibes and money. It showcases Bredrins ( friends) building a vibe, having a good time, dancing and just acting silly, more of what we need to see in the dancheall. This is gonna be, if it isn't already, the number 1 trending dancehall song for some time. There is one particular scene where Squash does a foot slide twirl thing, now the question is, did he really do that, or was it a stunt man?
My favorite line in the song is where he says:
"no trespassing you will step ina landmine (BOOM)"
Listen to the tune below, watch the video as it gives the full vibes of the song. Let me know what you think in the comments below.
