It’s a holiday period in Japan. While most will have the day off tomorrow, I won’t, but that didn’t stop me from enjoying the weekend.

A friend of mine went fishing again and caught some Tai, ( snapper ) and we basically did a Tai dinner. My linky knows I like the whole fish so he saved one for me. The rest was made into soup, Sushi and a rice mix.

Next time I will prepare the Snapper Jamaican style, steamed with veggies and herbs, but this baked tai wasn’t bad. Me and my youngest battled with this sea creature and it’s bones till that was all that was left.

Some photos from the park.

I was busy all weekend doing the parent thing aka taking the kids to the park and making sure they didn’t break stuff or themselves. On Friday we went to an outdoor park and then an indoor park. Saturday, an outdoor and then the snapper party. Today, BBQ in the rain. I actually am ready to go home and do that Jahmin post of the week but I for the first time, I think I will be late with that. Not too many post on the feed this week either but hey.

While at the park on Saturday I took the good weather opportunity to do some product photography for the new flavor of Banana chips my contact has available here in Japan. The flavor is Jerk & Harbanero. I know, I shouldn’t be thinking of work when out with the family, but when else am I going to do it? 🤷🏾‍♂️. I got the samples on Thursday and tried them out. They are extremely good, a lingering & creeping spicy 🌶 flavor that actually goes well with the chips. The next step is to make a listing on my site……Of course I am yet to do that. But the good thing is, I got some shots.

And here is the packaging for the new Jerk & Habanero flavor. It has a warning on it that it shouldn’t be eaten by children and I agree ☝🏿. Enjoy the week ahead peeps! Live and love, with the blessings of the realm.

Yes! I'm all for all kinds of spicy chips! I'd be the number customer. You can ask @tanjakolader, we have a whole box here where I buy my spicy snacks in bulk, before they run out on the shelves in the neighborhood. xD

You have a lot of posts where people share fruits and other foods with you over there. I really like that.

They are pretty good. How is the banana industry there? Any banana chips on the market? My by a business to invest in 😁

Yeah, there is a lot of sharing culture here even though the place is so advanced. Even someone visiting your home, they bring something.

Like @rarej said, the chips, especially the spicy ones are sold out faster than the regular ones here in stores. Sometimes we buy the last two or three and I feel a little guilty for not leaving one pack for someone else 😅.

We actually had a thriving banana/plantain culture in Suriname, exporting to various countries, but because of mismanagement and low interest from the government in agriculture it trickled down.

Some have tried to bring it back to its former glory though, but there is still a market. There are a lot of local chip entrepreneurs, but most of them aren't ready or aren't looking to export. Focus is mostly on the local market.

There are a few locals that are doing a good job with this and commercializing it perfectly so they can be in stores.

And then there's also the really local locals that just make it on request. Person to person. Think of the old Javanese grandmas that try to earn a little bit extra. I tend to support those the most, sometimes even buying a 5-10 liter container of plantain/cassava/breadfruit chips.

Same as the sharing culture in the Caribbean then, but in the Caribbean they bring leftover containers alongside the something they bring over. !LOL

The person who invented the umbrella actually wanted to call it the 'brella.'
But he hesitated.

Yuzeet! Preferably steamed with some Okura 🤤. You know one of my favorites was high gate chocolate, don’t understand how they went out of business.

Yes, okra and callaloo. High gate chocolate!!! I remember that. I wonder what really happened.

Oehhh it's been a while since we've had a fish dish and seeing you posting those dishes reminds me that we should... 😅

Those chips are looking quite flavorful and wondering if it'll be way cheaper to get them over here in Suriname to try them out.

Fish is dish I need to work on, in terms of scaling and gutting, also cooking.

It would be interesting to see what local snacks are like in Suriname. I have no imagine in my mind.

So... I've seen my mom doing that, but since we have our own household, we buy them already cleaned... 😅

Haha, thanks for that idea! We'll consider "reviewing" some of our local chips 👍.

Love the chips @dmilliz. Glad you had a fun time with the kids in the park. And you enjoyed the fish. 💚💚
