The key for 88 keys

This could be a good fictional story... How the main character came to a key through battles and completing certain tasks, all accompanied by epic music and special effects (of course not from the film industry but from our minds). Then, there would be a long search for the right door that this key opens, maybe someone hid a treasure behind them or a different precious thing. Maybe a secret, or maybe just another task to fulfil.

Oh, but everything gets less intriguing and mysterious after we spot the name that is already written on the key. Kawai. Yep, no mystery anymore, no fictional story as this key can clearly lead us to just one thing - to that Kawai piano in the lobby of one hotel. Very nice one though.

Just one click and the key will open the piano.

Facts - I didn't have to fight for the key, just a few words were enough to get it from the lady working behind the reception desk.

Good morning, I am the pianist who will play here in a few days... I came to check the piano.

Sure, here is the key.

That is how K. Kawai showed her black and white keys. I suppose she has been sleeping for some time so I didn't want to make too much noise. However, I was there to check the condition of this piano because the manager told me that the piano might be out of tune. I wanted to check it and come prepared for my gig that will happen on Tuesday.

I played just a few pieces for this piano check, just to hear if it is indeed out of tune. Well, maybe it is not in the best shape but on the other side, this is not a classical concert that will happen here. The piano doesn't have to be perfectly tuned.

If you want to hear how it sounds, check out the video below. You probably heard from me these tunes but it was just a check what matters, the sound of the piano. The most common problem with the pianos in the hotel lobbies is that everyone wants to play it, those who know but also those that don't play this instrument. Imagine how many guests (or children of the guests 😁) stay in such a nice place and sit there to play the piano. After some years the piano would inevitably be out of tune. That is why it is locked now.

If you don't want to hear the piano's condition, it is fine. The lobby is anyway much nicer than a pianist checking the piano on a Sunday morning. 😂 I like the white furniture and decoration, as well as the red flowers.

Cool deco on one shelf. 🐴

The Christmas tree was decorating the central part of the lobby, with some big boxes - gifts. Although we don't need a key to open the gift boxes... I don't think that would be considered acceptable behaviour from a pianist. So, I didn't experiment there. The reason why I went there was to be sure if I could play on this Kawai piano. Since the answer was yes, I left quite happy. 😊

Sort:

This pianist can do magic and create beautiful music, I'd listen to it all day long even if it's not in a fancy hotel lobby

Then the pianist would need several glasses of chestnut puree and a few pieces of apple pie to be able to play all day long, without breaks 😁 🍧 😉

All the best Christmas wishes to you too 😊

Did you? Did you open (one of the) boxes?

Kawai: owww she is a lady, perhaps a bit older lady since she isn't top notch? Though she sounds ok to me. Owww in the middle part a tune I know from when I was really young of age. A piece played by Richard Richard Clayderman, my mom loved so much and therefore I heard more than occasionally.

It's quite interesting that you do sound checks, but it makes a lot of sense. Been with my friend(s) to their sound checks many times as well. But then in clubs. Last tuning of the sound setup, the speakers, the whatnot. But never they had a key to try and find some mysterious story, experience or whatnot.

I wish you a LOT of fun and pleasure tomorrow. Am sure you going to handle miss Kawai gently. When some of the guests aren't pleased with what you do, do a Santa Claus act with them ... https://ecency.com/music/@klye/the-night-santa-went-crazy-weird-al-yankovic

No, I behaved and didn't open any of the boxes, but since I am going there tomorrow it could still happen. :D

my mom loved so much and therefore I heard more than occasionally.

Haha, how interesting, it's you real mom who used to listen to this piece and then your Hive mom also plays it 😂
Destiny 😂

I don't usually do sound checks. Well, yes, when we have a performance with the choir so we have to check the micros and everything one or two hours before the concert. For the gigs not so often, though I also went to the house of the lady where I played on one private party, a bit more than a month ago. It was a must to find it during the day as it was a finca in the middle of the mountain, I would never find it in the evening if it was the first time going there. This time the manager said the piano could be in very bad condition as he tried it a few years ago and it was out of tune. The advice was to take my stage piano, but I decided to go and check. He was wrong, I prefer playing on Lady Kawai 🥰

Omg, that Lego Santa went crazy 😱😂

Haha, how interesting, it's you real mom who used to listen to this piece and then your Hive mom also plays it 😂 Destiny 😂

Life is B E A U T I F U L 🥰

...as he tried it a few years ago and it was out of tune

a few years ago and never been maintained since then? 😆

Lady Kawai

One for the books. Was just thinking this morning to gather (again) all the misters, miss, ladies and whatnot and do something with the bunch.

Pam Pam pa pa ra para para Pam Pam , Pam param 🎶🎶🎹 I love it 😅🤣🤣 beautiful hotel too , it's good the lady in the desk give you key with out any problem then we can have some beautiful music to start the day 😁 good job! Señorita Mi piano!

Hahahah, señor Puma, usted canta muy bien. Me acompaña mañana en la actuación? 😂

🤭🤭😅

Apart from the fact that there are horses and that the tree is beautiful and the hotel is... a beauty, I watched the video 3 times, because you know I love it... on the third time I called my mother. The first one is my favourite.😍

There is one that I love by Richard Clayderman, Hungarian sonata... if one day you play it, please tag me, I love it! It moves me a lot although I don't know why.

Yes, horses ;P I didn't find them in the exposition but yes here, today :)

Thank you for listening to this little piano sound check. Clayderman Hungarian Sonata? I am writing this down, and if I play it one day you will know :D
Gracias 😇

I'm always excited to listen to the piano... the violin too, and at this time of the year even more so... I guess it's sensitivity. Thank you!

Superb Mipiano!

My father requested I play the first song at his funeral. Not necessarily me, but maybe someone or simply a recording of it.

I've though about having a grand piano in the recording studio, because well... it looks amazing! haha. It signals it's a professional-grade recording facility and it would likely make for beautiful recordings. There's no way for justifying a $9 or $10k purchase on something that isn't producing money for the studio every single day though, so unless $HIVE goes to $20, it's not happening in the near future.

Hey hey, @alex-rourke 😃

Mipiano is just hitting some piano keys there haha. That first one is pretty famous and nice.

Having a grand piano in your studio would be cool, but as you say, only if it could give you some benefit. If I had a studio (but I don't have one hahaha) for sure I would need such a piano 😁

Happy to read from you 😉
