This could be a good fictional story... How the main character came to a key through battles and completing certain tasks, all accompanied by epic music and special effects (of course not from the film industry but from our minds). Then, there would be a long search for the right door that this key opens, maybe someone hid a treasure behind them or a different precious thing. Maybe a secret, or maybe just another task to fulfil.
Oh, but everything gets less intriguing and mysterious after we spot the name that is already written on the key. Kawai. Yep, no mystery anymore, no fictional story as this key can clearly lead us to just one thing - to that Kawai piano in the lobby of one hotel. Very nice one though.
Just one click and the key will open the piano.
Facts - I didn't have to fight for the key, just a few words were enough to get it from the lady working behind the reception desk.
Good morning, I am the pianist who will play here in a few days... I came to check the piano.
Sure, here is the key.
That is how K. Kawai showed her black and white keys. I suppose she has been sleeping for some time so I didn't want to make too much noise. However, I was there to check the condition of this piano because the manager told me that the piano might be out of tune. I wanted to check it and come prepared for my gig that will happen on Tuesday.
I played just a few pieces for this piano check, just to hear if it is indeed out of tune. Well, maybe it is not in the best shape but on the other side, this is not a classical concert that will happen here. The piano doesn't have to be perfectly tuned.
If you want to hear how it sounds, check out the video below. You probably heard from me these tunes but it was just a check what matters, the sound of the piano. The most common problem with the pianos in the hotel lobbies is that everyone wants to play it, those who know but also those that don't play this instrument. Imagine how many guests (or children of the guests 😁) stay in such a nice place and sit there to play the piano. After some years the piano would inevitably be out of tune. That is why it is locked now.
If you don't want to hear the piano's condition, it is fine. The lobby is anyway much nicer than a pianist checking the piano on a Sunday morning. 😂 I like the white furniture and decoration, as well as the red flowers.
Cool deco on one shelf. 🐴
The Christmas tree was decorating the central part of the lobby, with some big boxes - gifts. Although we don't need a key to open the gift boxes... I don't think that would be considered acceptable behaviour from a pianist. So, I didn't experiment there. The reason why I went there was to be sure if I could play on this Kawai piano. Since the answer was yes, I left quite happy. 😊
