We are all in a dip every now and then, and it's at those times that we need a bit of motivation to get up and keep on going. Doing with we're doing each day, keeping the spark alive. Music can play an important role in this process. It does play that important role for many people. Many different genres of music can do this, depending on the person. Some like soothing soul music, others upbeat pop, others feel comfort in the harshness of heavy metal. And then there's also Reggae music, providing healing Irie vibes to the soul.
I often turn to my chill Reggae playlist to help me get in the right mindset and get motivated before I have to do something that definitely needs me in the right positive spirit. Those songs that remind me of how strong I am, what the important things are in life and how to deal with challenges that are thrown at us along the way. Some Reggae tunes are very good at doing this for me. Let's look at a few of those.
The first one I probably already mentioned once or twice on Hive, but it is still my go to riddim for when I need some motivation. And that tune is of course "Coming In From The Cold" by none other than the legendary Bob Marley. I could write all about this song in this post, but this part of the lyrics should be enough to signify the uplifting spirit of the melody.
When one door is closed, don't you know another is open
And then there's I Can See Clearly Now. A cover Reggae song by by Jimmy Cliff boosted into popularity by the movie Cool Runnings. The upbeat nature and rhythm are undoubtedly inspiring incontrollable smiles around the world.
The original by Johnny Nash is JAHMmin as well:
We may all feel down at times. Not motivated to go on, to sleep in and do nothing for the day. And sometimes you can do that, but sometimes you need to find that motivation, that fuel to your fire. We as people are in constant struggle with environment, rules and regulations of the society we live in, but just like Buju says, all we really wanna do is Rule Our Destiny.
What do you listen to for motivation?
