#APART initiative - My musical elevation | "The World", a Sizzla song

in ReggaeJAHM4 years ago

This time my high thinking requires speed and fleeting images like comets. I try to place myself in Jamaica and extract something from its reality, live as a citizen of Kingston and put myself in their shoes. We are the children of the world !, surely someone willing to share and exchange impressions awaits us everywhere.

My musical elevation

Reggae and its aspects. The triple modality Reggae-Ska-Raggamuffin, is a sample of creative power and complexity that leaves much to be desired. The inseparable bond of "Roots" is preserved intact in each passage, highlighting the broad sense of belonging that these Jamaican interpreters have over music.

Some emblematic representatives are based on the radical and rawness of social genre. A musician native to Kingston, who has devoted himself to constructive criticism and self-determination as a rhetorical form towards the system, has particularly caught my attention. Using the Ragga, as a style of impact, for the creation of rebellious songs that seek reflection, which, given its emotionality and powerful load of challenge associated with the lyric, has also achieved certain detractors and censors, to its staging.

"The World", a Sizzla song

I wanted to pick a theme that is "Roots" and modern, without fade. Some representative of Reggae with a marked trend "Raggamufin", who full of absolute energy and positive vibes offers a challenging style. Sizzla, Jamaican Performer composer of lyrics that speak of poverty and oppression.

It refers to an observer, who sees the problems that affect youth, related to the social, political and religious order.

It leads him to undertake, since 1990, the spiritual Ragga project that aims to create awareness and lead young people on the right path.

Sizzla, included in the list of the important artists of Kingston, Jamaica, with her music influenced by authors such as: Capleton and Buju Banton.

Create your own style, with a broadly Protestant meaning that repeals slavery, mistreatment and oppression. Removing the musical fiber and generating the necessary elevation to achieve the desired freedom.

I refer to the lyric, a source of inspiration:

The World

"Rastafari is the almighty
Ever living ever faithful ever sure
And he shall make forward the lamb
And the lamb shall overcome them
Because he is King of kings, Lord of lords
The Conquering Lion of the tribe of Judah
Yea he is the only king of the Sabbath
And the Sabbath is only the future
Eya Oy
And now the people shall know
That with Rastafari they shall no longer suffer
Love is all the earth shall replenish for the better
And now the children shall behold
The glory and goodness Rastafai has to offer
Seek he first the kingdom of Selassi I
And all will be added ya...! (Continue)

The World, Sizzla

-:-

"According to my own interpretation, it is about expressing glorification as the search for the higher entity "Jah", in all aspects of our life. Taking into account the youth and children as the most vulnerable, who are left in our charge (Adults), responsible for showing them the path of good and separating them from evil. Leading them in a worshipful life where they will find God".

The above quote is just a subjective interpretation. Let it be the universality of music and the expensive artistic effort made by the author, who are in charge of transmitting the true message.

A lot of thought in this post. You writer well. Sizzla is profound artiste , I good interpretation of his song and good message to lead the youths on the righteous path by also walking on that path. Did you write everything in this post? No offense, it is just really well written.

By the way, this type of post is not an APART, apart includes an original photo, but this type of content is perfectly fine. Wish more people would do post like these.

Hi @dmilliz!
I'm actually a music and literature researcher. I try to learn from the representatives of reggae, as it is a style with deep roots and full meaning that seeks to express the idiosyncrasy of the peoples of the Caribbean, such as Jamaica, in addition to cultures from other continents such as the case of Africa. Their origin, history and way of feeling. Articulated with an unprecedented musical art that goes from the Tribal to the technological. Reggae for me is a kind of archive or documentary of life itself, something that has a life of its own. They are more than songs, it is the mission entrusted by Jah, to his children, to his lambs who seek glorification and approach to God.

Thank you for your kind comment. I'm already preparing my next installment, in fact, at this very moment I'm listening to reggae music on my computer, studying my "Musical Elevation" more in depth.

See you soon
Bye!
