The Torguga Rum Fruit Cake is actually an awesome recipe. I had it years ago, after having the same imagination as you that it ought to be lousy. I was most surprised. I recall the strong smell and taste of rum which had me hooked.
I have always loved Christmas Cake and Rum Cake, but I no longer miss it. However, I'll indulge whenever I go back to Jamaica:)
