Portrait Drawing Of Lucky Dube

Reggae all the way. Whenever I'm creating a long drawing, I usually play a DJ mix of this legendary reggae musician, Lucky Dube.
Today, I decided to make a portrait sketch of him.

This South African reggae musician was also a Rastafarian who inspires and motivates people through his music. He also expressed himself and talked about the situation of life through his music.

The work was done with a blue ballpoint pen on a cardboard paper. Below are my step-by-step processes:

Hi buddy, thanks a lot.

Your original drawing style makes anything stand out.
Thank you for sharing your art

Thank you so much. Those dreadlocks of his gave me a nut to crack.
I'm glad you like the piece.

Man you got some amazing talent bro! This looks realistic!

Thank you! I always try to do better with every new piece I work on.

Nice work. Did you do this with ink (a pen)? If so, there was no room for error huh?

Thank you. Like I mentioned in the post, I drew it with a ballpoint pen. Error? Ahh, one has to be extremely careful!😊

🤦‍♀🙈 yes you did mention the pen; I missed it when reading. Sometimes I read posts late at night, I miss things hahaha

When I drew in school I felt more comfortable using pencils... Even charcoal didn't look as intimidating as ink.

Good job 👍.

All right then. That's cool.

When I was in high school, I used to draw with pencil and pencil crayon but when I entered college, I switched to drawing with pen - preferable blue.

Ah so cool. Did you get into college for design or art or was art a "side thing"?

I studied art as an apprentice from 3 different art professional. I studied another course in the college.

Wow multi facetted. I think we as humans all have different sides to us hihi.

Yeah. Absolutely!

Thanks for sharing this with us in ReggaeJAHM. I've been a fan of your work for a long time, and this is an excellent Lucky Dube. Perhaps African reggae legend Alpha Blondy is next...?

Oh yeah, he's my favorite reggae musician but I think some people could argue that Bob Marley is the African reggae legend.

I don't know about Alpha Blondy but I will check him out. Marley could be the next.

Thanks for dropping by. Looks like you took a break?
