Blessed Sunday!

Today I went to a City Market in my town. I always look forward to these events as they have live performances. It’s one of the main things I’ve missed since this plandemic started.

High School Jazz Band Brings the Ska

There was a high school jazz band at the event and one of the first songs they played was a ska/jazz version of mission impossible. It’s interesting that even in the heart of Japan we can find snippets of Reggae culture.

I managed to get some footage of a part of their ska set and was impressed how they played. They also had a groovy stage presence which the leader of the band guided much to the pleasure of the audience.

This duo played guitar covers of famous songs such as “My Heart Will Go On” by Celine Dion. But it wasn’t any regular cover as one of the members had a Spanish guitar. It was a pretty decent crowd out on a Sunday afternoon as you can see from the picture below.

The Jerkish Chicken & Curry 🍛 Set

At the city market, there was a truck selling a jerk & curry set. Of course being Jamaican I had to try it out.The name of the food truck was Green Door, and they really decorated it fi fit the name. They made the walls of the truck from wood and painted various fixtures green to accomplish this. Not your every day food truck at all.

There were various lunch sets starting at ¥1,000. Quite common for city market events to have that price range. They had some good looking cheesecakes too, but I didn’t try it. Below you can see the menu. I wonder if they have a dedicated location /shop or is it only the food truck? I shall find out soon enough. There were many other shops around but the lines were super long.

Here is the jerk and curry set. How was the jerk? Well let’s just say jerk-ish. But it was a balanced box of food. Veggies; sweet potato salad, sweat peppers, okura, radishes, pickled
"somthing", along with the main.

Cheers 🍻 to a new week!

HAhaha, it never even tasted like jerk, but I understand it is a marketing effort for them. You know I even had to share that plate with one of my yutes, luckily I had a late breakfast. 1,000 yen is about $9.

Bless Up!

For 10 $ i would let them fill up the plate some more...like: "Yo, where's the food..?"😁 😉
But Inflation is on the way & (nearly) everything is gettin' more expensive.
The price of my favorite Falafel plate went from 7€ to 9€ to 11€ now.
Ok, let's make mooore money.😉

Inflation hitting Jamaica hard, and you know in JA the salary low and things expensive. No wonder so many scammers deh bout. Crazy shot going on in Jamaica. Check out the cult story about the pastor name Kevin Smith.

News say he died in a car crash 2 days ago...what's up with this false prophet?
"Just" a scammer or more than that..?

Definitely Reggae and Ska are universal languages. For me it is surprising to see this ska song performed in a country as distant (for me) as Japan. In my country, Venezuela, there is an excellent Ska group, with several decades of trajectory, called Desorden Público, and it is extraordinary in terms of lyrics, music and composition. Interesting contribution you bring. Greetings.

Greetings. I was surprised myself that I would come across some ska music in the middle of the countryside of Japan. But these ska/jazz groups seem to be growing across the country. It gives them a chance to make jazz appeal to a younger audience.
Desorden Público, sounds interesting. I shall check them out. You should make a post about them in the Reggaejham community . We are not a huge community and don't have major curation bodies backing us but curators look into the community for quality content.

Have a good week ahead dear.

Ohhh, thank you very much for your invitation. I will surely do a post, because I love Desorden Público, and I was able to go to one of their concerts many years ago. I will be visiting them. Same to you, a hug.

Am really getting hungry of those food posts man 😅🤣.
I also miss live performances.... That was nice to hear and they're pretty good; I would definitely sway on those tunes.
