Bozzlife: #whoareyoulisteningto loss of a legend.

Well well, it certainly has been quite the week. Spending much of the week waiting for the Hard Fork which got pushed until next week as well as a devastating blow to the rock world. It has definitely been a crazy time lately.

Nodes were a bit crazy yesterday, so I didn't get to post really. No big deal, that just means I have a lot of catching up to do today. With that in mind, this might be a shorter post that usual. I hope you don't mind, but I think we all have a lot of stuff on our plates these days.

So let's get to it.

For some reason this week I was really feeling like listening to some Bob Marley. I had already burned through my "Discover Weekly" playlist on Spotify which is renewed ever Monday with a bunch of great songs (usually light Jazz).

After that I was looking for a different direction. Something I haven't listened to in a long time that had the potential to lead me into many other directions.

That is why I settled on Reggae. This is probably one of the most well known Bob Marley songs. It actually isn't my favorite though, my favorite would be "Three Little Birds". This was the first one I found that had a decent video to accompany it, so this is what you get.

Bob's songs are extremely spiritual and have the ability to take you to a place that your mind needs to go no matter what kind of week you are having. I really love his stuff.

My week-long dive into Reggae music was cut short by the death of Eddie Van Halen. I was driving home from work with my wife when she read it on her phone and I almost had to pull the car over to have a moment.

Van Halen has always been familiar to me, but it is only in the last couple of years that I have really started to love them. It began with finding a great deal on the 5150 vinyl album at a half priced bookstore down in Ohio. From there, they have become a staple on several of my playlists.

I was over the moon a couple of years ago when I got the chance to go see Sammy Hagar in concert with his band The Circle. Although Eddie wasn't in the band, it was great to hear some of my favorite tunes sung by one of the front-men of the group.

"Dreams" is probably one of my favorite songs of theirs. In fact, I like it so much, it is the song that plays when I need to get up early on the weekend and I set an alarm (my weekday alarm is "Peace of Mind" by Boston).

Personally, and I know many may argue with this. I feel like Van Halen was one of the most well rounded rock bands ever. Memorable drum beats, synth openings, and guitar solo's are just the beginning of what this band has to offer.

Fun fact: Did you know the guitar part on "Beat It" by Michael Jackson was played by Eddie Van Halen?

Cancer is a right little bugger and it is truly sad that it had take another one of the greats from us. If you get the chance, stop and listen to some Van Halen this week. If you have Sirius/XM they are doing a tribute on channel 27.

Did you listen to anything really awesome this week? Let me know about it in the comments. Better yet, write your own post and use the #whoareyoulisteningto tag.

I love Bob Marley songs, the other two i haven´t heard of them, but they sond very good... thanks for sharing!

Bob Marley rullz!

Indeed!

I have to admit to not knowing Van Halen's music too well apart from the hits, but I have been listening to some lately. It's interesting that the piano is such a big part of dreams, but then Eddie learnt it as a kid. He said he never learnt to read music as he could pick things up by ear. A talented guy who will be missed. Bob went too early too, but that seems so long ago now.

Much too early for Bob!

Bob is so relaxing.

I concur!

I just bought some more vinyl so I’m pumped. I picked up some death cab, Jack Johnson and some Post Malone. I know what I’ll be jamming out to today.

Those are some really awesome picks. Next weekend is National Record Store Day. You should see if there are some near you that are participating. I am part of a Facebook Group that is all Michigan vinyl enthusiasts. If you are interested I will send you a link. Are you on Discord?

For sure! I sent you a message on discord

Bob is he man! Van Halen, nice! It’s like they don’t make rock bands anymore.
