when I got home my girlfriend was throwing something at me I was shocked and I was wondering what it was all about. In my state of confusion, I didn`t know if I should be angry or not😟. she kept yelling at me saying oni oni oni while at the same time throwing something at me. I couldn't decipher what she had to be feeling, so many things kept cropping into my mind. I thought to myself, am I in trouble😌. but I couldn't remember any wrongdoing, so I decided to apologize. but wait, why is she smiling so I thought. afterward, I asked her why she was acting weirdly.
she told me it was setsubun day and it is a ritual commonly practiced in Japan. It is perfumed by throwing roasted beans around one`s house, at the temple, and shrines, to chase out evil.
Because of the pandemic (covid 19), she had to improvise.
It was there and then I felt relieved. 😁
Since I now understand the situation, it was time for my revenge, So I took the pack of beans as we switched places she became the oni (devil), so I chased her around throwing it at her while retaliating to get even, I must say it was fun.
It is so sad that most people couldn't celebrate it publicly this year.
Do you have this too in your country because It's my first to experience this here in Japan? we don't have this in Nigeria.
So I would be rolling out, I have some shopping to do.
