It’s December now, and it feels like just yesterday we were stuck in January. 😌And now, here we are, with only a few days left until 2024 is gone. It’s sad. Every time the New Year comes, I feel a bit sad because it means another year added to our age. One of my fears is getting old and facing death.😖 I know getting older is a blessing—after all, not everyone gets the chance to reach old age—but I just don’t like the feeling of watching the world change right in front of my eyes. Remembering people through memories and reminiscing about both happy and sad moments. Huhu, I’m getting emotional and sentimental again. Yeah, I’m like this. Sometimes, I feel sad just by hearing an old song. Just looking at the vast ocean makes me feel sad, which is why I really don’t like the sea. I’ve always had this tendency to have moments of reflection and nostalgia.
After my shift yesterday, my son and I went to the mall to buy something for his Christmas party. It's my son's Christmas party and family day. Each parent will bring food to share with everyone. You can either choose to bring food to share with a group or just bring something on your own.
We went to Robinsons, and I just find it funny because his Secret Pal's (SP) wish list is crayons, slippers, or a small bag. The gift should be worth 200 pesos. I also find it funny because my son's wish list is just crayons and a pencil. LOL!
We went to look for a small bag, but unfortunately, we couldn't find any. Only big bags were available. So, we decided to see if we could find a slipper instead. Luckily, I found something I thought I could buy. I let my son choose the design, and he picked a pair of Crocs with a Spider-Man design. And of course, he also chose batman design for himself! LOL!
We then went to buy crayons, and my son chose the pack with 48 colors. He also picked something for himself again! I just find it funny because he always picks something for himself. On top of the crayons, he also bought himself a soft bullet gun. It's like he can't resist treating himself while shopping!
We then went inside the supermarket because I wanted to check if they had Zonrox. The supermarket near our home has been out of stock for months, not really out of stock, but whenever they have it, there's only a few, and it gets bought right away. Luckily, there was one left, so I immediately grabbed it. I find it hard to wash white clothes without Zonrox, especially with a kid—OMG, his white clothes are always full of stains! After that, my son decided to buy 5 Kinder Joys—3 for his cousins, one for himself, and one for his SP.
When I returned to our cart, I was surprised because Ael was already holding 2 big chocolates, a KitKat, and even sushi! He has a sweet tooth and loves chocolates, just like my husband. As for me, I'm not a fan of sweets—I prefer sour and spicy food.
When we got home, I put his gifts inside a paper bag and prepared everything for his Christmas party. He wasn’t really excited and didn’t want to go because he thought the person who picked his name was a girl. Their teacher also said that they need to hug each other when giving gifts, and he thinks it’s cringe to hug a girl. LOL!
Today is his Christmas party and family day. My husband will go with him since I have to work. I only ordered lumpia and macaroons for our food share. Axel is wearing their printed green t-shirt. I didn’t buy him new shoes since I bought him a new pair just a month ago. I decided to buy him other things instead of new shoes.
While I was working, my husband kept sending me pictures of them, and I kept giggling, especially when they were giving out the gifts. Axel had to hug the girl who picked his name, and it was so funny! LOL!
Also, when they had to dance in groups, they didn’t know any dance steps because they hadn't practiced. They just stood in front and kept laughing.
He was also given a certificate because he got an honor. His teacher decided to give out the certificates during the Christmas party. Axel is really smart, especially in Math. For two consecutive grading periods, he got a perfect score in his Math periodical exam.
When he got home, he showed me his gifts, which were all school supplies. They also got loot bags full of candies. I asked him if he enjoyed his Christmas party, and he said, "Kinda." It made me think of when I was in elementary school. Even though we were poor, we still got to attend Christmas parties. I remember when I was in grade 4, my mom made me clothes for the party. It was a peach terno, a blouse and shorts, made from her big blouse. It was really nice to just be a kid, enjoying life and having fun. I miss those simple days.
