Cambodian Visa Secured 🛃 Family Reunification Soon 😂

I can't think of a better way to end my unintended Hive hiatus than to announce I finally secured a visa for my return to Cambodia and have a shot at residency.

The Battle Is Not Over Yet

The end to my family's struggle is not over yet, so I will explain a bit about why my joy is reserved in the video. I've seen nothing but sure things fall apart the last three years, so I won't believe it until I touch Cambodian soil. I did secure a business visa though (it's glued in my passport), the only choice for longterm residency outside of a retirement/pension visa or an NGO visa.

The visa that I now have is only valid for a 30-day use, so I must repeat this whole process all over again a few weeks after arrival in Phnom Penh, and if successful, I will obtain a one-year visa and then be able to relax, enjoy time with my family, and start undoing the trauma we've experienced the last three years stranded abroad.

In what is truly ironic, Cambodia now has a new law that supposedly we can register our marriage, and if we live together for 3 years after this I can request Cambodian citizenship. This would certainly make crypto-related things and Cambodian bureaucracy easier to overcome. Well, I just haven't felt that I had anything to share with you all lately, so I am glad to offer some good news, my departure date is January 5th.

Great to see you back on here bro. If you need a break, you gotta do it. Good thing it was just over a week. Tough luck about losing out on that ticket you had, that would annoy me a lot. Gotta just shrug your shoulders and move on after something like that. Sounds like you will be saving that amount of money by doing your own visa in the future.

So amazing to know that you at least have your 30-day visa. I'm excited for you to be back with your family. My question is, did the 30 days already begin? Or does it start once you land in Cambodia?

I have a Crypto.com debit card and have only used it in the USA. It does have an option in the visa card section of the app to enable international usage. I know that wouldn't solve all withdrawal issues, but perhaps at least let you turn some of your crypto into useable funds. Have you ever looked into a crypto debit card of any kind? There are many options, crypto.com is just the one I'm using.

Thanks my friend.

So, the 30-day visa expires at the end of March. As long as I arrive in Cambodia before that time, it will last 30 days from the date of arrival. Ironically the immigration department is located conveniently across the street from the airport, the place where visa agents drop off their packets to renew/start the one-year visa.

There have been a few cases of people successfully arranging their own work visas, but you have to have all your ducks in a row, the Cambodian authorities will not tell you if your paperwork is correct, and they won't answer any questions, thus king of encouraging you to use "visa fixers". I think I now know the process well enough that we could perhaps do it ourselves, fingers crossed.

Funny, I just received my Crypto.com ATM card. The only reason I haven't withdrawn any crypto via US channels is that I don't know much about taxes, so I don't want to fool with it. I think Binance P2P into my Cambodian wife's bank account, then withdraw via ATM will be a tax-free way to access our crypto. My Crypto.com card can definitely be my all-else-fails solution though.

Thanks for the answer. That makes sense, I wonder how it worked. I loathe rules.

I've literally been waiting on my upgraded Crypto.com card for over a month now. I wish I'd received it already, lucky you for having yours. I went with Indigo, did you upgrade or go with the free version? All work well.

Yea the tax thing sucks. I don't know anything about it either and am just going to live and see what happens. I'm tired of obeying every little thing and playing on the safe side.

I just did the free version because I am really banking on Binance P2P to save us. KYC verification is almost impossible because I've been off the radar for 25 years, and out of the country mostly for the last 15 years. I guess the only way to go tax-free in the USA would be convert your HIVE to Monero, and then somehow get fiat for that.

Even though we failed, my family and I attempted US immigration while stranded in Suriname, and so I my first tax return since I was 20+ years old, and there were specific questions concerning crypto, a little spooky. That combined with the new Binance.US site, and me getting booted off the regular site hurt a bit. Good ole 'Merican bureaucracy.

I hope one day everyone realizes that taxes are legit theft and something line a DAO would take care of pretty much everything in a more transparent manner.

Wow! I am so happy for you sir @justinparke! At last you will be together again with your family in Cambodia. Have a safe trip on 5th January flight.
I am also happy that I am at home now celebrating Christmas with my family here in Leyte. ❤️🙏
I am really grateful that we are at home now. We were able to escape Cebu. I am praying for the people in Cebu! 🙏🙏🙏

I think you were definitely right to leave Cebu, and I'm glad to see you making the most of your time with the family. Thank you for the Christmas wishes, and hoping 2022 is a better one for me and you.

Glad to finally have some good news about all of this. I hope that you can get that longer visa in Cambo once you are there. From what I hear from my local friends visas are easily acquired depending on whose palms you grease once you are there.... but I would imagine that you have waaaaay more experience with this process than the people I talk to locally.

Let's keep our fingers crossed and hope all goes well!

Definitely once on the ground the visa fixers can arrange everything like back in the day for their usual fee. Only problem now is I've learned how to arrange my own working visa, so I think I'll attempt to get the one-year visa in person at the Cambodian Immigration Office shortly after arrival, might save myself a few hundred bucks. Stay tuned I guess, I'm still cautiously optimistic.

Awesome, Congrats! A definite visa to enter, and the possibilities of a one-year stay, followed by another two, before being finally offered full citizenship. I really, really hope it works out as planned. For now, may you arrive safely in Cambodia to reunite with your family. It will be a great start to a (hopefully amazing) new year. Best wishes!

It is the best Christmas/New Year's gift I could ask for, even though I'm not big into holidays. A complicated road trip, an expensive PCR test, and I will soon be back in Cambodian with the fam. I have already selected the color of tuk-tuk we will purchase.

Yup! That's the kind of good news we need! At least seomething in hand. Next is to get it renewed for 1 year and the business visa when you get there. Once again, congratulations on the progress and can't wait for you to get together with the girls and start having more fun! Who knows, may be a new harry at your new place there!

I did mention the thought of a lamb in a tuk-tuk, but the wife laughed sarcastically. I guess a lamb will have to wait until after we buy land. Thanks for the wishes my friend, I know you know how much this means to me.

hi my friend justinpark

this is also good news for me, it turns out that you have returned to Cambodia, of course interesting things will be seen again in your post, which should not be missed by my idol hehehe, actually there is an important thing I want to ask you, but I it is impossible to ask in the comments of your post.

I have not returned to Cambodia yet, but hopefully within a few weeks if all goes well. Someday we get a sheep if have land and a house first.

yeah, I'll be waiting for the episode, my idol, who acts like Ronaldinho, hehehehe

Glad to read that you got the good news about your stay visa in Cambodia, I hope all goes well and you can be together again with your beloved family..

I wish one day I can visit Cambodia too 😍

It is a beautiful country, but travel, visas, and COVID policies make everything so much more difficult and expensive. I hope this doesn't last much longer.

Hihi.. Justin.. wow.. that is pretty good to hear.. Music to the ears.. At least, that is the first step. Good to know that with the new law, marriage can help in obtaining citizenship. From Cambodia, there are many places to explore. I still remember one post where you wrote about your plan. Hope that your plan comes true.

Yes, I am elated of course. I have an Air BnB booked for a week in the capital of Cambodia, and I assume we'll be buying a diesel Piaggio Ape there with which we will use for Hive-ventures, especially to Veal Veng, the place I mentioned before.

I remember your family's struggle last year so I'm really happy for you all! Got emocional when read the girls where back in the homeland but definitely you were missing.

Sending hugs and blessings in your family's reunion, it's so well deserved, and a Happy New Year to you all!

Wow!! You're back!! This is such good news. I have been checking on your profile every few months since you went inactive. I need to catch up on your life story, I assume you have some new posts, I will go have a look today. We finally got out of Suriname, but not the way we hoped for, but it looks like we'll be together again soon. Bless up, sending good vibes your way.

As we tend to say in Portugal when we've done something important:

Mais uma vitória!

( Another victory! )

I am happy for you and wish you all the energy and good vibes that you can use, to make it toward Cambodia in as easy a way as possible.

Big hug!

Thanks my man, there are plenty of challenges left, especially getting a PCR test before I fly, apparently impossible within hundreds of kilometers from where I live. I guess nobody goes international here very often.

Sigh... the world we live in these days :<(

I have no doubt though that you will clear those hurdles like an Olympic runner.

Big hug!

🏃🛃

I learned a little bit about Cambodia in high school. I know the angkor wat temple in cambodia is also very cool. I think I will be able to visit Cambodia one day. Have a safe and happy journey, Sir

It is an amazing temple complex. The tickets are now very expensive for foreigners, but if you went with Khmer friends and never talked, you could get in for free because the guards will think you're Cambodian 😁.

That's a great and happy news to heard sir 👍🏻. You did it 😊😊 so happy for you and your family. And like the recent spiderman movie hype for us to know about this good news ❤️

I feel like a superhero with my Cambodian visa, never could've imagined how difficult it would be to obtain one day.

Yeah. Couldn't agree more. And you really did it again ☺️. Can't wait for that day when you start counting down sir. We are glad and happy for you.

🙏🤞👊

I believe that you can pass all the obstacles to reunite with your beloved family. One thing that all your experience will be a sweet story after that.

Yes, the hotter the battle, the sweeter the victory. I can't wait to hug them again.

I'm so happy for you - so hope that the nightmare will totally be over soon! Happy times ahead for you and your family!

I only hope I don't cut off too much oxygen supply when I hug them tightly again 🙏.

Good news chef! I am so glad finally at least you will now have the chance to be reunited with your ladies... Super! Good luck!

I am so ready put this nightmare behind me and start making our dreams come true. Kids grow so fast, so I'm sure I'm will be heartbroken to see how much they've grown in just a few months. Thanks my friend.

Well done! Very happy for you and your family.

And a fresh start in the New Year for you all.

Yes I hope 2022 is a year filled with adventure, healing, and rebuilding.

I'm glad you got your visa back to Cambodia. I wish you and your family happiness and enjoy being there. 😊😊😊

Thank you, it is such a relief. I know there are still many more hurdles in front of us, but this is a major achievement during the pandemic. I do wish a return to pre-COVID times where Cambodia was one of the easiest countries in the world to secure a residency visa.

You 're welcome...I’ ll encourage you and your family. 😊😊

I'm glad you already have a visa, and I wish you a safe departure to your destination with your beloved family

Thank you for the good wishes my friend. I absolutely can't wait to see them again and start rebuilding our lives.

you're welcome my friend.😍

good news you have the visa already. and I hope the struggle will end very sooonnnn!

Me too, I am ready to start healing the trauma from the last three years putting smiles on my girls' faces.

I haven't been to Cambodia yet. I think Cambodia is a nice country to visit.

We may be living near the border with Trat very soon, easy to come visit by bus when the land borders reopen.

Be careful on your journey buddy, hopefully everything will be fine.

Thank you, I am hoping things keep getting easier from here on out.

Congratulations to you and our family be together soon 😊🙏🏻❤️

I can't wait to see you and our girls again, miss you so much.

Sending love 💕

Congratulations, about your visa.😄😁😁

I never could've imagined how many years it would take to get, but finally glad to have it in my possession.

I finally secured a visa for my return to Cambodia and have a shot at residency.

That is good news indeed 👍🏻👍🏻. There is an old Malay saying "perjalanan sudah selangkah semakin hampir". Direct translation: your journey are one step closer 😁

my departure date is January 5th.

Have a safe journey 😁

Thank you my friend. Indeed it's only a step, I am now learning I may have to leave the countryside and spend two days near the airport before I fly just to get the PCR COVID test. If there is nowhere near me to do it, I must add an additional $500 in expenses just for this inconvenience. At this point though, I will give thanks just to be broke and together with my family. We are smart and know how to hustle, so we can be on our feet in no time at all in Cambodia.

Haha, thanks, I can't wait to see the family again. I won't be missing any American food though fortunately, I have never liked my country's cuisine. I've cooked almost exclusively Indian food the last 20+ years. American food is just too bland. I hope you get to see Cambodia some day my friend.

It is the longest I've ever been away from Cambodia, around three years, and I miss my family so much. Thank you for the wishes my friend.

Yes, movement is so difficult in this time. Even my Cambodian visa was very difficult to get.
