What is HiveBuzz?
HiveBuzz is a project that is designed to bring gamification to the Hive blockchain by:
- tracking users' activity and achievements
- notifying them of their progress
- organizing contests and challenges
- interacting personally with users
Users receive virtual badges that reward them for being active on the Hive blockchain or participating in contests, challenges, meetups, and other Hive-related initiatives.
Users can check their achievements on the HiveBuzz Website and look up their ranking to compare themselves to others on the Ranking page.
The HiveBuzz project was initiated 8 years ago by @arcange, a now renowned witness on the Hive ecosystem. HiveBuzz is one of the oldest projects on the platform that is still alive, and from the very beginning, it has been much appreciated and receives very positive feedback and support from the whole Hive community every day.
Work done
The previous years have been a bit of a roller-coaster ride.
Our funding proposal was repeatedly defunded for several months. The proposal received only a third of the requested budget and it was difficult under these conditions to keep a team on deck and carry out all the new projects we had planned.
Our infrastructure got hacked at the beginning of 2024 and everything had to be rebuilt.
Despite these misadventures, we have continued to provide our service daily throughout the years to meet our commitment to the Hive community.
Promoting Engagement and User Retention
HiveBuzz stands as an important tool to foster user engagement and commitment in daily interactions on the Hive blockchain.
Since its creation, HiveBuzz has received an average of two thousand replies per month to its notifications and we make a point of answering each of them!
Our project is generating continuous positive feedback, where users share how HiveBUzz not only enhances their social networking experience but also instills in them a strong sense of accomplishment and belonging. Here are only a few of them:

PUD, PUH, PUM... and LPUD
These three acronyms and the associated initiatives have now become famous, so much so that many communities have followed suit with similar events.
This initiative serves as a powerful incentive for users to stake their Hive Power (HP). By promoting the locking of tokens, the event not only strengthens the platform's economic foundation but also solidifies user commitment to Hive.
The Power Up Day takes place every 1st day of the month and resulted in the stacking of 11,081,988 HP, which is anything but negligible (even if we don't take into account the September 2024 power-up of over 500K HP that may be accidental)
The Power Up Helper confirms each month how supportive the Hive community is for newcomers.
Each month, the Power Up Month raises the bar by encouraging the user to increase their stake each day. We also reward users who regularly participate in the Power Up Month and help others with Hive Power delegations.
We also support the Leo community with its Leo Power Up Day taking place every 15th of the month.
NFT For Peace
Since the invasion of Ukraine in 2022, we have mobilized to assist civilians with the NFT for Peace project.

HiveFest in Rosarito and Split
As we have been doing since the event was created, HiveBuzz supported the Hivefests that took place in Rosarito, Mexico and Split, Croatia.
Each time, it is a major event in the life of our community, which requires a lot of preparation and coordination with the organizers.

HiveFest is not only an opportunity for participants to get virtual badges. Since 2022, we made a trophy that is not virtual but very real, a crystal trophy to reward those who have traveled five times to participate in HiveFest.
Women's World Cup Contest
Another big event we held, which lasted an entire month, was our Women's World Cup Contest.
With more than 6000 HIVE, hundreds of NFTs, and thousands of Tokens to be won thanks to a dozen sponsors who supported this initiative, it is the event of the end of the year on the blockchain.
The event came with several posts every day (which require updates too), 64 badges to be updated according to the course of the competition, a ranking that allows participants to know their status in the competition (almost) in real time, hundreds of comments to reply to, ...
It's a huge job for our team, both in terms of preparation and daily activities. Fortunately, the enthusiastic feedback we receive is really supportive and helps us to keep going.
More than 300 participants were not mistaken and had fun with us for several days. They all shared the prizes at the end of the event.

We made some of these badges available on our shop where you can customize and put them on your favorite items.
Existing proposal renewal
The purpose of this proposal is to renew the current proposal which expires in a few days for the next two years.
The HiveBuzz project has proven over time to be an excellent motivator and user retention tool. It also helps to strengthen the feeling of belonging to a community. All this with a fun and positive approach.
Although our proposal was only funded with a third of the previously requested budget, we continued to work throughout its duration. However, maintaining a devoted and driven team amidst fluctuating funding periods poses a considerable challenge. We've been torn between halting our beloved project due to the present constraints and the overwhelming encouragement we've felt from a significant portion of the community.
It would be disheartening to give up on a project that holds such a special place in our hearts.
In light of this, we've chosen to reassess our goals and to lower the amount of funding requested compared to the previous years.
Through this approach, we hope the community will support us to fulfill our mission of adding a gamification element to the Hive blockchain experience.
Request for Funding
This proposal request is to cover current and future costs in terms of infrastructure and human resources. The operational budget is based on the following elements:
- Infrastructure
- servers (web, processes, database and storage)
- security and monitoring
- maintenance and backup services
- Graphic Design and Web Development (1 person)
- Creation of new challenges and contests
- Design and implementation of new badges
- Database maintenance
- Communication and Community management (2 persons)
- Daily interaction with users
- Communication about new badges, challenges, contests and features
Considering what is mentioned before and based on our experience of several years of activity, we are asking for 150 HBD per day for the next two years.
