Tell me, what does it look like in heaven?
Is it peaceful? Is it free like they say?
Does the sun shine bright forever?
Have your fears and your pain gone away?
'Cause here on earth
it feels like everything good is missing since you left
And here on earth everything's different,
There's an emptiness.
I hope you're dancing in the sky
And I hope you're singing in the angels' choir
And I hope the angels know what they have!
I'll bet it's so nice up in heaven since you've arrived
Dancing in the Sky Lyrics – Dani & LizzyREST IN PEACE MY BEAUTIFUL MOTHER

19th May 1949 to 20th June 2020On Friday the 19th June, I had a dream. I was sitting on a bench with my mom on my left, weeping hopelessly because she had just told me that she was leaving me. I became aware of a young man sitting on my right. He moved closer to me, enough that I could feel his body touch mine. I rested my head on his shoulder as I cried. He held out his hand and I took it. He gestured that we get up and walk, so keeping my hand in his, we began to walk away from my mom. As we walked, I turned to him and asked him what his name was… he replied, “God”.
The timing, significance and impact of that dream will stay with me forever, because the journey without our mom began the very next day – yesterday, Saturday the 20th June. There is absolutely nothing in life that can prepare you for such a journey, especially when you have been blessed with a mother as beautiful as ours.
Mom, from the time I used to call you “mama”, you blessed all your children with not only unconditional love but true friendship and boundless acceptance. Never in my life have I met such a selfless soul, filled to the brim with an abundance of compassion and love. Your cup was always overflowing and no matter who crossed your path, you always had more to give. You never hesitated to place those you love above yourself and the impact of that grace sits firmly rooted in each and every one of us as we embrace the gift we have all been afforded in raising our own children.
As petite, delicate and graceful as an old fashioned rose, gentle in heart and voice but rich in strength, passion and resilience - you were the epitome of a true lady! As your daughter, I am so very proud to have been raised by such a magnificent woman and my brothers, your sons are the noble gentlemen they are, because of the values and ethics instilled in them by a mother who truly had nothing other than love in her heart for her children – a REAL mom!
The ripples and impact of your unwavering love will forever flow in this family, between us as your children – through to your grandchildren and one day, their children too. You may not be here on earth any more, but I know – we know, because of the radiant soul that you continue to be… you will be ever present. The lives and homes of not only your family and friends, but countless people around the world shall forever be enriched by the beauty of your talented heart and hands.
From your passion and love for nature and the invaluable knowledge and appreciation for it’s importance in life that you grew in people all over the world, to the gardens which still burst with their wild beauty because of the soil your hands turned. From the incalculable brush strokes on canvas that sit as masterpieces in the homes of people across all continents, to the passion and talents that you nurtured, as well as the many hearts and minds you gave solace to in your art classes. Never has this world been blessed with a more precious soul and the vibration of your beauty, integrity, authenticity and grace will enrich this world for eternity.
Our hearts will forever ache in your absence,
but our lives will be infinitely richer for your presence."If I had a flower for every time I thought of you ... I could walk in my own garden forever." — Alfred, Lord Tennyson
In the months approaching this closure, you asked each and every one your children what painting they would like. Your love for the elephants you grew up with in your backyard as a child clearly resonated strongly - as all three of your sons asked for elephants… and I requested a pink lotus. As it so often does, time diminished before your works were completed, but you did manage to get two of the three ellies done and you had begun my lotus.
A couple of days before you departed for hospice, you told Jude that he was to make sure that I finish the lotus. Never in a thousand years could I match your talent mom and I will never touch my lotus canvas with a brush until I have better explored your colourful world of oil painting, but in my heart I hold the intent of fulfilling that request.
❤ WE LOVE YOU MOM ❤
and you are LOVED the world over!!!
THANK YOU... FOR YOU!You were, are and always will be,
the wind beneath our wings.
There are so many of you that have been here for me and my family in the last two months and I would like to close firstly with a very heartfelt thank you to each and every one of you! Your love and support has been invaluable.
...and secondly, some of my moms absolute favourites! My passion and appreciation for music was born through my mom.
and as she always told us...
"listen to the words."❤❤❤
Until next time...
Much Love from Cape Town, South Africa xxx
