Hello Hive open mic community and all music lovers, I am wealthwess by name and i’m excited to be here again this week 198 of our concert and to be able to share this beautiful yet emotional song with everyone. But before then, this week theme is Rebellion as chosen by our recent spotlight Artist @rasecdus, so based on the theme I’d be performing a cover of a song by Asa a Nigerian-French singer-songwriter and she tilted the song Jailer. The song jailer is inspired by Asa’s own experiences and observations of social and political injustices, thereby she crafted a song to speak to the universal desire for freedom and expression. The song jailer resonates with people from different parts of life because it serves as both personal and societal anthem. Asa’s lyrics urges people to break free from their own confinement of societal expectations, the fears and the self-doubt. Overall, the message of this song is for individuals to find their voice in this cruel world that tries to silence it. Although, the song is acapella but i hope you find it worthy. Thank you.

Jailer / Lyrics

[Verse 1]
I'm in chains, you’re in chains too
I wear uniforms
And you wear uniforms too
I'm a prisoner
You’re a prisoner too, Mr. Jailer, oh!

[Verse 2]
I have fears, you have fears too
I will die, but yourself will die too
Life is beautiful
Don’t you think so too, Mr. Jailer?

[Chorus]
I’m talking to you jailer
Stop calling me a prisoner
Let he who is without sin
Be the first to cast the stone
Mr. Jailer, Mr. Jailer man

[Verse 3]
You suppress all my strategies
You oppress every part of me
What you don’t know
You’re a victim too, Mr. Jailer, oh!

[Verse 4]
You don’t care about my point of view
If I die another will work for you
So you treat me like a modern slave, Mr. Jailer

[Chorus]
I'm talking to you jailer!
Stop calling me a prisoner
Let he who is without sin
Be the first to cast the stone
Mr. Jailer, Mr. Jailer man

[Verso 4]

[Coro]
¡Te estoy hablando carcelero!
Deja de llamarme prisionero
El que esté sin pecado, que
Sé el primero en tirar la piedra.
Señor carcelero, señor carcelero.
