We’re now in week 248 of the Hive Open Mic Community weekly initiative, and this week’s topic is Step by Step, and is open for all of us to explore the theme musically or otherwise. I saw the theme, Step by Step, and I was inspired to look for songs that speak to this phrase but many songs do not directly use the phrase "step by step," but they still convey similar meanings.
Step by step from my understanding simply means progressing one step at a time or taking one step at a time. It’s not always about physical steps but rather about following an intentional process in our daily lives or routine. To succeed, we need to take things one step at a time, understanding and mastering each phase before moving to the next from my view point.
For this week’s theme, I’ll be sharing a rendition of the song "Step by Step" by Michael W. Smith. This song has been a blessing to me personally, and in my version, I’ve added my own style rather than following the original arrangement song, I did a little modulation.
The song is a song of worship and heartfelt acknowledgment of God’s guidance and the importance of relying on Him to order our steps all the times. Without God's guidance, we run the risk of becoming lost. The song begins by recognizing that God is our Lord and that we will forever praise Him for countless reasons best know to us.
Our God is a God of orderliness. This is evident in the creation story. He didn’t create everything all at once but instead followed a deliberate, step by step process in order to achieve success. Each stage of creation was has it purpose and preciseness. Though challenges arose, but He didn’t skip ahead, He resolved them before moving forward. That’s the essence of this song, as I understand it.
God’s guidance doesn’t mean life will be free of ups and downs, temptations, or challenges. However, following His path is always the best choice anyone can Make because His way leads to eternal rest and fulfillment. So whenever we allow God to direct our steps or path, we begin to see everything working together for our good, and in the end, we give Him the glory.
