Whaaaagwaan Reggae Massive Worldwide?
This morning I flipped through some of the latest Reggae tunes and found a cool JAHM by Tarrus Riley & Shenseea. The track is called Lighter. Gotta love it when a male and female heavyweight in the genre get together for a banger.
The chorus kinda reminds me of one of those pop EDM songs from Chainsmokers, but that is not a bad thing as familiarity makes a song easier to listen for most. The chorus also has a playful and distinct melody that will stick in your neo-cortex the minute you hear it. But then, the hardcore Reggae/Dancehall vibes kicks in when the verses start. It is a cool blend that even non reggae fans will appreicate.
Rvssian, the heavyweight Jamaican producer behind the JAHM knows how to construct a hit that has an international feel but stays true to the roots of the culture, gotta give him props for that. All in all, this is a fun track and video that many will enjoy. Let me know what you think in the comments below.
